About Me

Speech Made Easy (SME) is owned by Hannah Joseph, a Speech and Language Therapist. Hannah is passionate about working with and supporting children and young people to develop and improve their speech, language and communication needs (SLCN).

 

She has experience working in the NHS and private practice, and has a good understanding of both the public and private sector. Through her experience, Hannah has worked with children and young people in clinics, mainstream schools and specialist provisions.

Hannah's goal is to help make a difference in the lives of children and young people no matter what their speech and language needs. Her mission statement is to 'support, develop and aim to change the lives' of children as well as their families.

To further develop her skills as a Speech and Language Therapist and enable her to work successfully with your child so that they can make the best progress with their speech, language, and communication skills, Hannah has completed training in the Social Communication, Emotional Regulation and Transactional Support (SCERTs) framework model.

What is SCERTs

SCERTS® Model is a research-based educational approach and multidisciplinary framework that directly addresses the core challenges faced by children and people with ASD and related disabilities, as well as their families. SCERTS® focuses on building competence in Social Communication, Emotional Regulation and Transactional Support as the highest priorities that must be addressed in any program, and is applicable for individuals with a wide range of abilities and ages across home, school and community settings (https://scerts.com).

Hannah can work with and support children and young people with the following difficulties:

  • Attention and Listening.

  • Children with an Autism Diagnosis within special needs provision

  • Language disorders.

  • Speech sound delay/disorders.

  • Social and Emotional needs (e.g., understanding and regulating emotions).

 

Hannah has training in the following areas:

  • Autism Awareness (Level 3).

  • Introduction to and working with pupils on the autistic spectrum for primary mainstream colleagues.

  • Makaton (Level 1 and 2).

  • SCERTs framework model.

 

Accreditation

You can be reassured that your child will receive a quality first therapy experience. As a qualified Speech and Language Therapist, Hannah holds a BSc (Hons) in Speech and Language Therapy, obtained at Birmingham City University (BCU).

Hannah is a registered member of the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapy (RCSLT), Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC); the Association of Speech and Language Therapists in Independent Practice (ASLTIP) the Federation for small Businesses.
